This watch brings together design cues that don’t usually share the same space, and that’s exactly what makes it compelling. At its core is a 3-6-9 dial most often associated with clean, field-style or explorer watches valued for its clarity, symmetry, and understated confidence. Here, though, that familiar layout is recontextualized inside a vintage-inspired Submariner-style case, instantly shifting its character from purely utilitarian to something more layered and expressive.

The case itself, paired with a domed acrylic crystal, leans heavily into mid-century dive watch aesthetics. The acrylic dome softens the overall profile, catching light in a way that sapphire simply can’t, adding warmth and a subtle distortion that enhances the dial’s presence. It evokes a time when tool watches weren’t just instruments, but objects with personality shaped by material limitations and design ingenuity.

The inspiration traces back to the 1963 reference 5513 a piece known for its purity and no-nonsense execution but the Ringo doesn’t just replicate that legacy, it interprets it. The introduction of an orange-red bezel insert is a deliberate departure, injecting energy and individuality into an otherwise restrained format. That pop of color transforms the watch from a homage into a statement, balancing vintage seriousness with a touch of playfulness.

Even the name ties into this philosophy. “Ringo,” derived from the Japanese word for apple, reflects that same contrast simple, familiar, yet distinct depending on how it’s presented. Much like the fruit, the watch appears classic at first glance, but reveals a unique flavor the longer you sit with it.

Altogether, the Ringo is less about strict historical accuracy and more about thoughtful reinterpretation blending the legibility of an explorer dial, the robustness of a diver case, and a carefully chosen twist that gives it its own identity.
