Commissioned Piece: Shiro Kara Vintage Sapphire (SKVS) SHUSUI

There’s a certain character found in vintage watches that a perfectly preserved new piece simply can’t replicate. The softened lume, weathered surfaces, faded tones, and subtle imperfections created by decades of wear are often what make an old watch feel truly special.

Except this one is virtually brand new.

Its appearance was intentionally created through an accelerated aging process, using a combination of my own hand-applied aging and patina techniques to recreate the character, texture, and warmth that vintage watches naturally develop over time.

SHUSUI was created to capture that character from the very beginning.

The deep black dial is carefully distressed and textured, while the markers and hands are individually aged to develop the warm tones normally associated with decades of wear.

The goal isn’t to make a new watch look damaged. It’s to recreate the depth, warmth, and individuality that time naturally leaves behind, while starting with a completely new timepiece.

While similar models can be recreated, no two Shiro Kara Vintage watches will ever be exactly alike. Due to the nature of the hand-aged patina process, every dial, bezel, and handset develops its own unique wear patterns and character, making each piece truly one of one.
