The Sabumarina サブマリーナ Taro is a no-date, vintage Submariner style dive watch that brings together all the classic design elements. It features Mercedes hands, a domed acrylic crystal, and an Oyster-style bracelet. The dial, hands, and bezel insert are carefully aged, giving the watch a true vintage feel as if it has passed through decades of use. In contrast, the case, bracelet, and clasp remain clean and modern, creating a balance between the character of the past and the untouched element of the present.”

So what is SABUMARINA?

サブマリーナ is the Japanese pronunciation of “Submariner.”
It’s written in katakana, the script Japan uses for foreign words.

Why it sounds like “sabumarina”

Japanese doesn’t allow most consonant clusters (like “subm-”), so the word is broken into syllables:

• Sub- → サブ (sabu)

• -mar- → マリ (mari)

• -ner → ーナ (nā, long “ah” sound)

Put together:

サ・ブ・マ・リ・ー・ナ
sa-bu-ma-ree-na

This is the first Shiro Kara Dive watch that features the Sabumarina Dial.
