Commissioned Piece: Shiro Kara Vintage (SKV) 369 Astoria

The dial on this timepiece was specially commissioned and offers a glimpse into the transition from the Season 1 369 dial design to its Season 2 evolution. It features a refined cursive “Automatic” script paired with hand-brushed calligraphic katakana, blending classic Western typography with traditional Japanese lettering to create a design that bridges both aesthetics.

For this commission, Jeff gave me a great deal of creative freedom and trusted me to take the design in my own direction. The watch features silver lightning hands paired with a classic Mercedes handset, while the entire piece—including the case and bracelet—has been carefully hand-aged to complement the deep patina found throughout the dial, hands, and bezel.

Overall, I’m very pleased with how this piece came together. Its balance of vintage character and subtle detailing has earned the 369 Astoria a place in the official future Shiro Kara model lineup.
