Commissioned Piece: Sabumarina Taro Neo Tokyo

The Sabumarina (サブマリーナ) Neo Tokyo (ネオ東京) Taro is a no-date, vintage Sub-style dive watch. It features Mercedes hands, a domed acrylic crystal, and an Oyster-style bracelet. The dial, hands, and bezel insert are carefully aged, giving the watch a true vintage feel, as if it has passed through decades of use. In contrast, the case, bracelet, and clasp remain clean and modern, creating a balance between the character of the past and the untouched elements of the present.

This model marks the first Shiro Kara dive watch to feature the Sabumarina dial. Although it follows the Season 1 dial layout, the Sabumarina dial will return for the upcoming Season 2 models with minor variations.

Every watch in my collection features handcrafted aging and patina, ensuring that each piece is truly one of a kind. As an artisan, I’ve developed a range of vintage-aging techniques to achieve distinctly different patina effects. Even when the same method is applied to multiple timepieces, natural variations throughout the aging process ensure that no two watches will ever be identical. Each one develops its own character, making it as individual as the person who wears it.
